Liverpool FC celebrated their former player Trent Alexander-Arnold on his 27th birthday. Despite an exit that soured his relationship with the fans this summer, the official Liverpool Twitter page posted a picture of their former vice-captain holding the 2024/2025 Premier League title with the caption, “Happy Birthday Trent Alexander-Arnold,” on their official X page.
Recall that Trent left Liverpool for Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer, although Real Madrid had to pay £10 million to secure him before the end of his contract — just 10% of his £100 million market value. He was not even given a proper farewell by the club, with many fans viewing his move as a betrayal, especially as he had come through the club’s youth system and had repeatedly stated in past interviews that he wanted to captain the club one day.
Liverpool fans and other football supporters have reacted to the club wishing their former vice-captain a happy birthday, with some suggesting that the club misses him after losing three games in a row — including two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and a Champions League match against Galatasaray.

"As a honest Liverpool fan, I have to say we have the worst fan base on earth.
Trent is arguably our biggest legend, someone who gave everything for this club and took us from our banter era to now when all of us glory hunters became fans, and this is how we repay him?"

"Ah yeah, we've just lost three on the bounce, so celebrating a player who betrayed us only a few months ago is a great idea, isn't it?
Read the room."

" His loss has been extremely undervalued in terms of how much he brings to the team in possession. His mere ability to kill teams with his passing range completely alters the way other teams are allowed to press us"
