The 2002 year group of Anglican JHS in Nkoranza, Bono East Region, has demonstrated their commitment to giving back to their alma mater with a generous donation.
The group presented assorted items, including jerseys, footballs, volleyballs, sanitary pads, soft drinks, and bottled water, worth over GHS 5,000, to the school in preparation for their school league.
He expressed optimism, that students and management will give the needed care to the items, and urged the entire student body to pursue their dreams diligently.
“I urge all students to study hard and pursue their dreams diligently. Remember that you came to the school as an individual and you will leave as an individual. All that matters is your academic results,” he admonished
According to Seth Amoah, Secretary of the Old Students Association, the group is dedicated to supporting their former school, recognizing the solid foundation laid by the staff.
"The school has some challenges, including lack of electricity, inadequate water systems, and dilapidated roofing sheets, which we are poised to address," Amoah stated.
The old student association deserve a higher commendation for forming a network of old students who pull resources together in order to support their alma- mata,” he said.
He also mentioned that, government alone cannot meet the demand for and supply of education, hence, the need for participation by other stakeholders like the Old Students Associations in management of secondary education.
“I strongly believe that it is never out of place for past students of Senior High Schools who were groomed by such institutions and are now in the position to support their alma mater to endeavor to so in a bid to complement government’s efforts at providing some basic items in our senior High Schools,” he reiterated.
The old students were grateful to themselves in partnership for the support in gathering the items for the gesture.
The Head Teacher of Nkoranza Anglican JHS, Bernard Apagya-Arthur, receiving the items expressed the school's gratitude, acknowledging it as a significant contribution to reducing the school's burden.
The head teacher further thanked the the association and the entire year group for contributing to the items. Receiving the items, the Headmaster of the school, thanked the old student for their continues support to the alma mater and calls for more support to enable the school give out their best to the students.
He appealed for further support to patch classroom floors and repair leaky roofs.
He concluded that the 2002 batch's gesture is a testament to their appreciation for their alma mater and their willingness to make a positive impact.
