Coach Ibrahim Anyass of the Siano Football Academy is scheduled to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Accra today to answer serious allegations of sodomy, which tragically led to the death of a 16-year-old player, Ransford Owusu Ansah.
The development follows months of public outcry and demands for justice after the young footballer’s condition deteriorated following the alleged abuse.
Allegations and Tragic Passing of Ransford
The deeply distressing case involves allegations that Ransford Owusu Ansah, a player at the Amasaman-based academy, was repeatedly abused by his coach, Mr. Anyass.
Ransford’s ordeal came to light after his mother noticed her son becoming increasingly weak, withdrawn, and sickly. The young player eventually confided in his mother about the alleged sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of the coach. Following this revelation, Ransford’s health rapidly worsened.
He was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away after reportedly falling into a coma. The family of the deceased has since launched a desperate public appeal, calling for accountability and demanding that the alleged perpetrator be brought to justice (Source: Reports from the victim’s family and social media pleas, March 2025).
CID Intervenes After Months of Inaction
A striking element of the case is the reported delay in official action. According to sources, for many months following the initial complaints and the player’s death, there was no formal arrest or official invitation extended to the coach or academy management to assist with investigations.
Compounding the family’s distress, reports indicated that Coach Anyass had allegedly returned to his role, training children at the academy for the past three months despite the serious allegations and the resulting death of Ransford Owusu Ansah.
However, after a considerable period, the case has officially escalated. Mr. Anyass is now under orders to appear before the CID headquarters at 10:00 a.m. today, November 7, 2025, to formally respond to the serious charges leveled against him. This intervention by the national criminal investigation body marks a critical turn in the long-running pursuit of justice for the deceased footballer and his family.
