Asante Kotoko struggled to secure a 2-1 victory over Future Stars FC on Wednesday afternoon in their Round 64 match of this season’s MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors lifted the FA Cup last season and are hoping to successfully defend the title this season.
Asante Kotoko had an early fright in the match against Future Stars FC as the squad gave up nine minutes into the first half.
Luckily, the Reds were able to turn things around in the second half, as Karim Zito's team won 2-1 thanks to goals from Hubert Gyau and Peter Amidu Acquah.
After defeating Future Stars FC, Asante Kotoko advanced to the FA Cup's Round 32 stage and will have a good chance of winning going forward.

FIFA informs spectators that there will be no smoke-filled fireworks at stadiums during games.
G.B. Jones, the Chief Safety and Security Officer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is urging fans to get familiar with stadium safety rules before the competition.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Atlantic Council's Africa Center, Jones said that several well-liked fan accessories, such as fireworks, musical instruments, and other pyrotechnic devices, will be banned from venues in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
According to him, the goal is to make sure that everyone attending games is safe rather than to suppress fan culture.
"We want you to bring your passion to the World Cup, but do not bring your pyro. We do not want pyrotechnicians or smoke-filled pyrotechnics in the stadium. However, Jones said, "We want to embrace the enthusiasm."
To prevent issues on matchdays, Jones advised supporters to consult the complete list of prohibited products on FIFA's official website and ticketing channels.
Please be aware that goods listed on our website or in the ticket details are prohibited. "Be aware of what you can and cannot bring to the stadium," he continued.
FIFA, he continued, is completely in favor of fan-driven color and excitement, including banners and flags, as long as they adhere to safety regulations.
"We want to make sure you can enter every stadium with all of your belongings. According to Jones, "fans should bring what will let them celebrate, but within the boundaries imposed for safety."
From June 11 to July 19, 2026, the United States, Canada, and Mexico will jointly host the FIFA World Cup.
