Africans, particularly Kenyans, have  been urged to exercise extreme caution when considering job offers from Moscow by a Kenyan man currently serving in the Russian army as a conscript. In a video that has been making the rounds on the internet, the man, who was dressed entirely in the military garb of Russia, talked about how many foreigners are lured to Russia by promises of high-paying jobs. However, he stated, upon arrival, they find themselves pushed into the battlefield rather than the promised workplaces. He revealed that the majority of recruits are told they will earn up to 1 million rubles, which many job seekers believe will change their lives. However, according to him, the money never reaches their accounts.  Instead, they are forced into the military after going through a difficult process. In addition, the man made it clear that the harsh conditions foreigners face on the front lines. He said Africans deal with serious racism, adding that some are treated as expendable.  Language barriers make the experience even harder, as many cannot communicate or understand instructions from Russian officers.

He painfully recalled seeing bodies of African fighters and said he personally knew of at least two Kenyans who had died or been critically injured at the front.

From a safer location away from active fighting, he used his experience to advise Kenyans not to accept job offers promising quick money in Russia.  He warned that many who return home do so with life-changing injuries, and some never make it back at all.

However, the conscript retains hope that he will safely return home. He thanked God for keeping him alive and prayed that he would reunite with his family soon.

His message was clear and straightforward: "Be satisfied with what you have at home." Don’t let the promise of big money mislead you.”
