Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang, often known as King Zuba, has asked for the dismissal of Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito, citing his dissatisfaction with the club's performance since his arrival.
Zito joined the Porcupine Warriors halfway through last season and helped them win the Ghana FA Cup, upsetting lower-tier team Golden Kicks FC.
The Porcupine Warriors have been disappointing this season under the former Dreams FC boss, winning only one of their last five Ghana Premier League games.
Before their victory over Dreams FC last Sunday, the Ghanaian giants had gone four Premier League matches without a win, losing two and drawing two.
However, the Mayor of Kumasi, who is dissatisfied with Karim Zito's performance, has asked for his dismissal, instead asking for an experienced expatriate trainer to manage the team.
"I have not witnessed any big improvements at Asante Kotoko since Karim Zito took charge. For me, the club requires a new direction, which should come from an experienced expatriate coach," he told Akoma FM in an interview.
After 14 matches, Ghana's football heavyweights are in third place with 24 points.

Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari poised for European comeback in record-breaking move to Widzew Lodz.
Ghana winger Osman Bukari is set to return to European football after negotiating a record-breaking transfer to Polish top-flight club Widzew Lodz in a deal worth approximately 5 million euros.
Once official documentation with Austin FC is completed, the transfer will become the most expensive signing in Ekstraklasa history, breaking Legia Warsaw's previous record of 3 million euros paid for Mileta Rajovic. Bukari has already passed his medical and signed a deal with Widzew, and the two teams are currently finalizing the agreement.
The 27-year-old's move to Poland concludes his brief stint in Major League Soccer, having joined Austin FC from Red Star Belgrade in the summer of 2024 for 7 million euros. Bukari appeared in 39 games across all competitions while in the United States, scoring five goals and assisting six others. While his stats were modest, his speed, work rate, and ability to stretch defenses earned him a regular spot in Austin's attack.
Bukari's reputation grew during his stint at Red Star Belgrade, when he had his most fruitful period in Europe. In the 2023-24 season, he scored seven league goals and assisted five times in 24 appearances, as well as two goals and two assists in six Champions League games. His efforts in Serbia raised his stature and demonstrated his ability to succeed in high-pressure situations.
Bukari's European odyssey began in Slovakia with AS Trencin, where he rose to become one of the league's most exciting attacking players. He scored 16 goals and added 25 assists in 66 games, earning moves to Gent in Belgium and then Nantes in France. Though his experiences in Western Europe were uneven, they aided his tactical development and versatility as a winger.
Bukari is typically deployed on the right wing, where he excels at straight dribbling, one-on-one situations, and cutting inside with his stronger foot. Widzew believes that his pace and eagerness to attack defenders will offer a new dimension to their forward line as they seek to increase their place in the Polish top flight.
Bukari has made 19 international appearances for Ghana, scoring three goals and assisting twice. He is best recognized by global audiences for his moment at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, when he scored against Portugal and then imitated Ronaldo's famous celebration, which rapidly became one of the tournament's highlights.
Widzew has been active early in the winter transfer window, signing Christopher Cheng from Sandfjord and Lukas Lerager from FC Copenhagen. Bukari's signing stands out as a strong statement of intent.
