The return of skipper Benjamin Asare has given Ghanaian powerhouse Hearts OF Oak a boost ahead of their highly anticipated matchup with Aduana FC.

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the Phobians will travel to Nana Agyemang Badu Park to play Aduana FC in matchday 15 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians, who have struggled in Ghana's top division, have not played since the Black Stars' first-choice goalkeeper passed away from injury in early November.

Coach Didi Dramani has greatly benefited from the enterprising goalkeeper's return to training as the Rainbow Lads prepare for the crucial Premier League match.

The former Great Olympics shot stopper is anticipated to start against the Dormaa-based team after regaining full fitness. After the first-choice goalkeeper returns, Solomon Agbasi will be demoted to the bench.

After defeating Nations FC by a slim margin in the previous match, Hearts of Oak will be looking to continue their winning streak in the top division.

Since returning from the Great Olympics, Asare has made a name for himself as a vital member of Hearts of Oak. The 32-year-old goalie has made eight league appearances this season and has five clean sheets.

With 24 points after 14 games, the Phobians are currently in fourth place in the league rankings.

In a historic step forward for sports development, Parliament approves the Ghana Sports Fund Bill.

The long-awaited Ghana Sports Fund Bill has been enacted by Parliament, which is a significant step toward establishing an organized and long-lasting funding framework for the nation's sports growth.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2025, the historic law was approved on the floor of Parliament after lengthy discussions and cross-sector cooperation. The Bill's passing opens the door for the creation of a Sports Development Fund that will assist grassroots initiatives, athlete welfare, infrastructure development, and talent identification across the country.

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports examined the Bill after it was first proposed by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and rigorously reviewed by Cabinet. To provide a strong legal and operational framework, the process entailed intensive negotiations with the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Attorney General, the Parliamentary Legal Committee, and other important parties.

The Bill's approval, according to Sports and Recreation Minister Hon. Kofi Adams, who supported it in Parliament, was a turning point for Ghanaian sport. Both the Majority and Minority caucuses contributed to the final version of the Act, which underwent numerous readings, discussions, and revisions, highlighting a unique bipartisan dedication to sports development.

It is anticipated that the Sports Fund will raise a substantial amount of money each year through a combination of donations, parliamentary appropriations, and specific revenue streams. It will be in line with the upcoming National Sports Policy and overseen by an independent governing board under a transparent accountability framework.

The Mahama administration's larger goal of repositioning sport as a strategic weapon for national development is also reflected in the Bill's passing. In order to ensure long-lasting impact, President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to prioritize long-term institutional, legal, and financial reforms over a limited focus on medals.
