Ghana Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko are reportedly in talks to sign prolific Ghanaian striker Elvis Bernard Addae from Niger Premier League club AS FAN, according to GHANASoccernet.

The 23-year-old attacker is currently dominating the West African football landscape and has emerged as a major target for the Porcupine Warriors.

Addae is coming off a great 2024/25 season in which he scored 18 goals, helping AS FAN win the title and securing their participation in the current 2025/26 CAF Champions League.

Kotoko, who now lead the domestic league with 30 points, are hoping to add firepower in the second half of the season as they pursue the crown.

The transfer for Addae is a statement of determination, with the teenage striker returning to his homeland to join one of its most prominent clubs.

While conversations are still in the early stages, insiders say the deal is moving forward. The possible deal would greatly improve Kotoko's attacking options and might be one of the most significant transfers in Ghanaian football this January.

The West African country will face Panama in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next summer.

Despite their second appearance at the Mundial, Kingston says Panama should not underestimate Ghana's performance.

"Everyone is looking forward to the game against Panama, but we should not underestimate them. Everyone, I feel, looks forward to these kinds of games, but these teams are known for their hard effort," he told SuperSport Blitz.

Kingston also predicted that the second group stage game versus England would be an exciting match to watch.

"These are games, and I feel the guys are ready for them. Most of the players look up to them, and they play similarly to the English squad, so it will be both a difficult and enjoyable match," he continued.

The Black Stars will play Panama on June 17 in Toronto, England on June 23 in Boston, and Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

Following early exits in the 2014 and 2022 World Cups, Ghana will be hoping for a better showing in the bigger 2026 edition.
