Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has sparked reactions after making a deeply personal revelation about his journey to fame and how his success is still not fully accepted in his own home.
During an emotional conversation on the YouTube talk show — WithChude, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, the actor opened up about the disbelief surrounding his career, especially from his father.
Despite building a strong name for himself in Nollywood, Arukwe revealed that his father still struggles to accept that he is an actor.
“My father doesn’t know that I’m an actor; he has heard, but he doesn’t want to believe,” he said.
The statement has since drawn attention, as many find it surprising that a public figure with growing recognition could still face denial at home.
Arukwe further explained that his mother also had difficulty accepting his career choice at the beginning. According to him, her hesitation was largely influenced by his father’s disapproval at the time.
“My mum was slow to adapt because of her husband, but she later came around,” he added.
Over time, however, she accepted his decision to pursue acting.
The actor, who has featured in several notable Nollywood productions, has steadily carved out a place for himself in the industry, earning recognition for his performances and consistency.
Still, his revelation highlights a striking reality: even success in the spotlight does not always guarantee acceptance at home.
His story has sparked conversations about family expectations, career choices, and the emotional cost of following one’s passion in the face of resistance.
