Ghana’s Black Princesses have given Ghanaians something to celebrate after beating South Korea 3-1 at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The win was very important for Ghana because the team lost their first match against Ecuador. The Black Princesses needed a good result against South Korea to keep their hopes of reaching the next round alive.
The first half ended without a goal. Ghana created chances, but the players could not find the back of the net.

Ghana Take the Lead
Ghana captain Sarah Nyarko opened the scoring in the 52nd minute.
She produced a long-range shot that beat the South Korean goalkeeper and gave Ghana a 1-0 lead.
Just three minutes later, Ghana scored again.
Ivy Osei Owusu doubled the lead in the 55th minute. Her goal gave the Black Princesses more confidence and put South Korea under more pressure.
Ghana continued to attack and looked more comfortable as the game went on.

Ghana got their third goal in the 84th minute.
Ruth Amponsah finished well to make the score 3-0.
At that point, it looked like the Black Princesses had done enough to take all three points.
South Korea later scored a goal in added time, but it was not enough to change the result.
The match ended Ghana 3-1 South Korea.
A Big Win for Ghana
The victory gives Ghana three important points from two matches.
The Black Princesses had started the tournament with a 3-0 defeat to Ecuador. Their win over South Korea is therefore a big response from the young Ghanaian team.
