The National Communication Officer for the National Democratic CongressSammy Gyamfi has told the New Patriotic Party government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that they will continue to suffer if they don't reverse their decision on goods imported into the country by local companies.

Sammy Gyamfi told the NPP government that if they're saying they want to help local manufacturers to grow, why are they increasing taxes on goods they import?

Sammy Gyamfi speaking on Metro TV good morning Ghana show today, Thursday, 25th November, 2021 stated that imposing a lot of taxes on local companies will let the government stuffer because a lot of companies may stop operating if they can't import goods from outside the country.

According to him, if government is saying they are helping local companies grow in the country, why can't they give them tax credit and some discount and reduces taxes on goods imported into the country?

He stated that Dzata cement is the only company manufacturing cement in Ghana and they always import clinkers into the country, and questioned that why can't government do something to reduce the taxes on those clinkers for them as they are saying that they are trying to help local companies grow? He said government can use procurement Powers to push local companies to grow and do well if they want to boost the local industry.

He exposed that NPP is giving tax credit and discount to some NPP party executives who are importing goods into the country and asked that is NPP government killing other local companies or they are helping them to grow?

He told the government that they will continue to suffer if they don't reserve their decisions to increase tax on local companies across the country.
