In their pursuit of Chelsea striker Christian Pulisic, Barcelona has reportedly gone ahead of Liverpool. The Blaugrana are thought to be interested in making an offer to the Blues.

Both Barcelona and Liverpool, according to El Nacional (via The Hard Tackle), are interested in signing Pulisic in January or the summer. In quest of regular playing time, the American international is rumoured to be considering a move away from Chelsea.

Pulisic's current contract at Stamford Bridge, on the other hand, goes through the summer of 2024. As a result, Chelsea is expected to seek roughly €50 million for his services.

They also reportedly do not want to trade Pulisic to Liverpool, a direct Premier League competitor, since this would give Barcelona an advantage in their pursuit of him. Chelsea's appraisal of the player is a huge stumbling block for the Catalans. Barcelona's financial problems are well-known, and they will have to cut their team in order to meet the Blues' asking price for Pulisic.

The Reds' desire for the 23-year-old is reasonable. In January, the Reds will be without the productive Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane due to their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. The loss of Salah and Mane will leave a huge hole in Liverpool's frontline.

Jurgen Klopp will gain a much-needed outlet in the wide areas with the addition of Pulisic from Chelsea.

Barcelona, on the other hand, is dealing with injuries to a number of their attackers. Sergio Aguero, Martin Braithwaite, and Ansu Fati are all injured at the moment, while Ousmane Dembele has only recently returned to the team. At the moment, the club only has Yusuf Demir as an out-and-out winger, so bringing in Pulisic will give them another option on the flanks.

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea in 2019 after leaving Borussia Dortmund. The Blues had sold Eden Hazard, and many fans expected Pulisic to fill the void left by the Belgian.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, though, the American has been plagued by injuries. Pulisic has made 83 appearances for Chelsea in the more than two years since joining the club, with the majority of them coming off the bench.

He has only played 61 minutes on average per match, which is concerning. Since joining Chelsea, Pulisic has a respectable 19 goals and 14 assists. While the figures aren't very outstanding, they demonstrate the USA winger's ability and aptitude.

Pulisic is now at the bottom of the depth chart, with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, and Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of him. He could get greater playing time if he moves to Barcelona or Liverpool.
