The Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe known in political circles as Abronye has suspended the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the party, Mr. Maxwell Mahama over allegations of gross misconduct and verbally abusing some key personalities of the party in the Region.
In a letter sighted by myblogpay.com, three executives of the ruling party namely Evans Kyere (Deputy Organizer), Mr. Muhammad Ibn Ahmed (Youth Organizer) and Christian Gyabaa Yeboah (Research and elections officer) have been dragged to the Fiapre Circuit Court with criminal charges pressed against them.
According to Abronye, the legal action against the trio over issues yet to be made public is frivolous and lacks merit.
Mr. Maxwell Mahama who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of the Bono East Regional National Health Insurance Scheme was suspended in December 2020 by the Regional Party Secretariat in accordance with Article 3, Clause 7 of the New Patriotic Party's constituition on grounds of verbally abusing some Members of Parliament in the Region and describing some Regional Party Executives and top personalities of the party in a disdainful and blasphemous manner that had the tendancy of to impugn the integrity of the party which the Regional Secretariat believe amounts to gross misconduct which is against the backdrop of the spirit of the New Patriotic Party's constituition, the letter said.
Abandoning and breaching internal mechanism to deal with the matter, Mr. Mahama filed a certiorari (a writ or court order to quash the decision of his suspension) at the Sunyani high court.
Pending the final judgement of the Court after over four months of legal war, the plantiff filed an application to discontinue the matter he had earlier filed challenging the decision to suspend him.
"The suspension remains valid until a final determination is made".
