Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has urged Chelsea’s Star to fulfil his full potential in the Blues' forthcoming matches.
Loftus-Cheek has struggled at Chelsea since making the step up to the first team in 2015. Injuries have often disrupted a promising career, and he has frequently found himself at the bottom of the Blues' midfield pecking order due to the strength of the Blues' midfield.
Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, is steadily rediscovering himself this season under Tuchel. This season, the midfielder has made 12 appearances and has three assists. Despite heavy competition from the likes of N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, and Saul Niguez, Loftus-Cheek has received those minutes.
Tuchel has now lauded the Englishman for his efforts, urging him to reach his full potential in Chelsea's remaining games. Tuchel said (as quoted by Football London) at a press conference ahead of the Blues' weekend Premier League match against Manchester United:
"I'd like to say it again because I see the potential, and I believe he (Loftus-Cheek) is aware of it. Everyone has known about his potential since he was an academy player, and now he must demonstrate it to the rest of the team. Everyone in the stadium must be aware of Ruben's skill and strength. This is the following phase."
The German coach continued to appreciate how Loftus-Cheek is in the toughest competition for minutes on the field.
"This is what he's doing because he wouldn't play otherwise," he explained. "It's all about the performance, and he deserves to be on the field. He's up against Mateo, N'Golo, Jorginho, and Saul for minutes on the pitch, and he's in the thick of it."
Loftus-performance Cheek's in Chelsea's 4-0 thrashing of Juventus in midweek was also lauded by Tuchel. The midfielder came off the bench to help Callum Hudson-Odoi score the Blues' third goal of the night in the 58th minute.
"I am pleased with Ruben; he was a key component of a wonderful performance [against Juventus], and that is what we want of him," he stated.
Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea are in tremendous form this season
Chelsea's 50th game under Tuchel's leadership. In those games, the Blues have only conceded 24 goals while keeping 31 clean sheets. They've won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup, with 32 wins, 11 draws, and only seven losses.
Chelsea is now aiming to build on its European success and bring it to the Premier League. Tuchel's team is currently in first place in the English Premier League, with 29 points from 12 games. In a fantastic start to the season, they have scored 30 goals while conceding only four.
With 12 points from five games in Group H, the Blues have now qualified for the Champions League knockout stages.
