About 170 cartons of expired Charmé Sparkling Non-Alcoholic Red and White Grape Juice products have been retrieved from the Ghanaian market, according to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
These were being sold to the general population, according to the FDA.
However, after receiving a tip, its investigators rounded up the distributor and worked with the Ghana Police Service to assist in the investigation.
The following are the product specifications:
Charmé Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Red Grape Juice has an expiration date of October 25, 2021, and Charmé Non-Alcoholic Sparkling White Grape Juice has an expiration date of August 6, 2021.
"The public is now advised against consuming the above-mentioned items since FDA cannot guarantee their quality or safety," the FDA stated in a public advisory dated November 26, 2021.
"Any of these products discovered via FDA's market surveillance activities will be retrieved."
"In addition, anyone in possession of these goods should return them to any FDA office across the country as soon as possible."
As the Christmas season approaches, the Authority also issued a warning to the public on the wholesomeness of food products, emphasizing the importance of being especially alert.
