Two Rastafarian have expressed their dissatisfaction with the country's high marijuana prices.
Speaking to Citi Tv, they maintained that it is a more expensive product than cocoa, and that legalizing it will bring in billions for the country.
According to the Rastafarians who participated in the #FixTheCountry protest against the government's 2022 budget, marijuana is a valuable commodity as well as cocoa and can generate revenue for the country.
“There’s something going on in the country, I’m not happy. The budget has affected the price of weed because those bringing the herbs from the village are afraid that they will be arrested, therefore if it comes to Accra, the price will definitely increase."
They have lamented the fact that cigarette is unnatural and destructive yet it is legal while marijuana that is not hazardous is criminalized.
“We have left the authorities to import cigarettes into the country which can cause tuberculosis and the weed which is created by God and today, the police will arrest for the weed… So wee is important that the cocoa we export…”
They reemphasized their claim that marijuana is now costly in the country due to hikes in lorry fares.
