Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the IGP, is doing everything he can to make the Ghana Police Service a respected profession for all. He is not leaving any stone unturned in his efforts to bring everyone who breaks the law to justice. Police officers who work under him are no exception, and some of them have been arrested in recent months for various offenses.

Over five officers have been arrested so far, with others being detained for violating the law. Four police officers were apprehended and detained in September after they allegedly subjected some citizens they were ordered to arrest to serious physical assaults. The four officers were tasked to assist authorities from the Volta Regional Police Command and were members of the Tamale Regional Police Command.River Authority officers attempted to apprehend people involved in unlawful connections, but they were beaten instead. The four were apprehended and detained when the video went viral.

In NR, four officers assaulted civilians.

Inspector Daniel Agbavor, the personal police bodyguard of Francis Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, was also arrested. Following a demonstration over the area's poor road network, he thwarted an effort by his colleagues to arrest the Member of Parliament. He drove through the throng, injuring some police officers in the process.

The Kintampo District Police Command also detained another police officer, Lance Corporal Christian Adjei Boateng, after he was caught stealing a motorcycle parked at the police station. In his residence, he was also found with 10 live AK47 assault weapon rounds and chemicals suspected to be hard narcotics. For he was brought before the court for criminal charges. This occurred in September of 2021.

Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah is the latest to be arrested under the watchful eye of IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. He was arrested for pestering a woman in a car. After video of his conduct went viral, he was fired. For his actions, he will be held accountable to the country's laws.

This is a clear indicator that, regardless of who someone is in society, they cannot be excused when they break the law. Because they are law enforcers, police officers are expected to know better, but it is unforgivable for them to breach the same rules they are sworn to uphold. This is also a clear sign that IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is prepared to clean up the police force and remove the bad apples. Residents can contribute to the fight. by filing a complaint against any police officer whose actions are against the profession and the laws of the country.
