General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has disclosed that he took part in the drafting of the 1992 constitution.

According to Asiedu Nketiah he had been a member of Parliament for twelve years and for that matter he knows the laws .

“I know what is in the constitution and what went into putting what is there inside,’’ he said

This comes after the majority claim that they boycotted the approval of the budget which eventually led to its rejection because of his presence in the house.

It is widely reported that the General Secretary of the NDC went to parliament on last Friday to observe the final decision on the 2022 budget.

The majority demanded that he be sacked from the house after the speaker ordered all Ministers who are not parliamentarians to leave the house. However, their request was turned down.

In his response, Asiedu Nketiah said  he has every right to sit in the  public gallery as an observer of the proceedings for the day.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews the General Secretary of the NDC disclosed that the Parliament had been his house and even before his becoming a Member of Parliament, he took part in the drafting of the standing Orders of the house.

He said although there have been some changes in the house , he his familiar with the standing Orders of the house as he had been in Parliament for 12 years.

“…There has been no substantial changes, the key principles are the same,’’ he said in a bid to defend his stance.

Meanwhile the majority insists that the budget which was rejected last week is invalid adding that the will put the motion in Parliament again when Parliament reconvenes today.
