According to a report from Catalan magazine El Nacional, Sevilla has been offered the option to re-sign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet in the January transfer window. Barcelona is desperate to offload the French defender this winter, and will only sell him for €10 million if his previous club signs him.

After a good 2017/18 season at Sevilla's Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona in July 2018. At first, the move seemed to pay off, as the player established himself as a regular for Blaugrana while also breaking into the French national squad.

However, Lenglet's stock has been on the decline since a succession of dismal results the previous year. As a result, Barcelona's first team has relegated the 26-year-old defender.

He is now only a point ahead of fellow countryman Samuel Umtiti, with Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, and Oscar Mingueza trailing him. This season, Lenglet has only accumulated 460 minutes of playing time and has failed to satisfy new Barcelona boss Xavier Hernandez. Given this, it comes as no surprise that Barcelona is willing to move the Frenchman in the January transfer window, and has even made an offer to his previous club Sevilla.

Given Sevilla's lack of faith in backup options Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos, the 26-year-old French international may be beneficial. Furthermore, with Kounde associated with a number of European teams, notably Barcelona, the Andalusian giants must find a suitable replacement.

In some ways, Kounde has filled in for Lenglet at Sevilla, who now have the option of bringing the Barcelona defender back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium for a fee of €10 million. Monchi is willing to re-sign Lenglet, who has previously been linked with Sevilla. On the other side, Julen Lopetegui has the last say. So yet, it's uncertain whether Sevilla's manager will allow a move for Lenglet, whose €10 million price tag should tempt Los Nervionenses. The 26-year-days old's at Barcelona appear to be numbered after failing to impress Xavi.
