Everything we need is around us. Thus everything around us is useful. The plants, rivers, the sea ,rocks, and so on are all of beneficial to human beings. They all can serve our physical and spiritual needs.
In the olden days , our forefathers utilized all the things in their surroundings for medicinal and spiritual purposes.
However, due to the arrival of alien religions on the continent, many Africans have stopped the practice of using the things around us for medicinal purposes labeling it as uncultured. Also, their use for spiritual purposes have become uncommon in our societies because we have been made to think that the practice is evil. As a result of this, we have stopped imparting knowledge of the health and spiritual usefulness of the plants, rivers, and so on onto the young ones.
This has negatively affected the patronage of African traditional medicine.
In this essay, i highlight the medicinal and the spiritual uses of Tameawu; commonly known as the leaf of life.
