The eighth Parliament of the fourth Republic has been an interesting one since it's inception on January 7, 2021.

A near hung Parliament with 137 equal members on both sides and an independent candidate who does business with the NPP's side giving them a slim majority over their counterparts from the NDC.

Alban Bagbin's Parliament has always been a sight to behold especially on matters that is of national interest and appeal.

History was made in the law-making chamber after the majority group staged a walkout last Friday over their own party's financial statement. The 137 minority MPs voted to reject the budget in the absence of the majority after government failed to reach a consensus.

In the late hours of Tuesday, the majority group also in the absence of the minority, overturned the decision of the Speaker and the minority; therefore endorsing the 2022 budget statement.

In a press briefing addressed by the minority leader and whip of the minority group, they described the decision to overturn the earlier rejected budget as a constitutional nullity.

Further, the minority group has served a notice of going to ask for a headcount on every decision to be made in the future.

"Cooperation has suffered and it will suffer since this is the tangent the majority group will want us to go. We will ask for a headcount on every single decision to be made in the house going forward", the minority leader insisted.
