Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency who also doubles as the deputy majority leader of Ghana's Parliament, Afenyo Markins has made some revealations about what transpired in Parliament last Friday.
Speaking on the back of a rejection and approval of the budget statement of the 2022 financial year by the minority and majority respectively on Joy News' PM Express, the deputy leader indicated the Speaker was influenced by an American based Ghanaian journalist.
"We were in the lobby of the Speaker with the Finance Minister trying to build a consensus when some backbenchers on the minority's side came to disrupt the process by making noises and hurling insults at the leadership for delaying proceedings.
After calm was restored, I saw one MP on their side showing the Speaker a post made by Kevin Taylor".
The leadership of the minority have failed to call their backbenchers to order and this is affecting cooperation in the house.
Parliament has for the second made a decision on the 2022 budget with two different outcomes under the Speaker and the 1st Deputy Speaker.
