The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus is moving a motion to reverse the approval of the controversial 2022 government budget statement and economic policy.

Speaking at a press brief after the approval of the budget on Tuesday, the Minority Leader said there were 137 MPs in the house during the proceedings and not 138.

“The precedent they are setting will haunt them in the future. At the time that they were making the decision, the house was not 137.”

He opposed the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Attah's claim that the demands of the NDC caucus will be addressed by a committee.

The Minority Leader added that the NDC will forever chastise the e-levy policy.

“We don’t support the E-levy in its current. Our point is to revise it to take care of the ordinary people."

The NDC wanted the Agypa Deal to be withdrawn from the budget, the e-levy to be scrapped, and also the budget to capture the predicament of the tidal wave victims.

However, the budget was approved in the absence of the minority without the two parties agreeing.

The NDC wants the judgment made on the budget by the First Deputy Speaker to be reversed.
