The Member of Parliament for Ada who doubles as Second Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, said there will be more of the brouhaha in Parliament if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus continuously bulldoze their way though decision-taking in the chamber.
According to her, although Ghanaians have expressed their dissatisfaction with the policies of the NPP government, its caucus in parliament want to have their way.
“Start it somewhere…Ghanaians are not happy with it. This levy is going to be a burden on Ghanaians because how many of the article 71 people rely on momo? It’s the students, our mothers, the pensioners, they are going to suffer," she said.
This comes after the National Democratic Congress Caucus (NDC) were seen chanting the Revolution song amidst chaos in the chamber on Wednesday, December 1 after the First Deputy Speaker, Joe Wise, dismissed a motion moved by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, to have the the 2022 budget reversed in order to address their demands.
The NDC caucus wants the introduction of a 1.5 percent levy in the budget on electronic transactions to be scrapped.
The caucus also wants the Agyapa deals captured by the budget, wiped out.
Another demand among the five demands is that, the NDC want the budget to address the predicaments of the tidal wave victims in Keta in the Volta Region.
However, the ruling party has taken an entrenched position and went on to approve the budget on Wednesday in the absence of the Minority caucus though it was initially disapproved by the Minority after the Majority staged a walk-out.
The video below captures the moment of chaos in the house with the NDC singing the revolution song:
