Captain Smart, the anchor of the morning show on Onua TV and Onua FM, has been arrested and held by the Ghana Police Service and the National Security.
1. National Security operatives came to Captain Smart's house on Thursday morning and arrested him.
2. He accompanied them to the National Investigations Bureau stationed near Accra's 37 Military Hospital.
3. He was then transferred to the Ghana Police Service's Nima Divisional Command.
4. In the presence of his lawyer and managers, Captain Smart was interrogated by a team consisting of the Divisional Commander, Crime Officer, Investigative Officer, and other command officers.
5. During the interrogation, Smart was told that the reason for his arrest was because of comments he made on his show, Onua Maakye, that the police believe incite the public against the government.
6. He was issued a warning for offensive conduct, after which the Crime Officer took his written statement.
The owners of Onua TV and Onua FM, Media General, have been negotiating with their lawyers and the Ghana Police to seek Captain Smart's release on bail.
