For injuring an ICT teacher at the Three Town Senior High School in Denu in the Volta Region, a final-year student has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Gilbert Akakpo, who is a 19-year-old final year student, was on Tuesday, November 3, convicted by the Aflao Circuit Court presided over by Joseph Ofosu after the court found him guilty of stabbing his teacher.
The prosecution said Akakpo stabbed John Akey Kwashi on August 11, 2021, after the teacher prevented a form-one student from being bullied by the convict.
Akakpo was upset over the teacher's intervention and inflicted a wound on the teacher who was later sent to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital for treatment.
The Presiding Judge indicated in his judgement that the court was kind with the convict because he was a first-time offender, but that the sentence was required to deter others who have no respect for authorities.
