The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, said the 2022 budget statement and economic policy is rejected entirely and that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus has not proposed the reduction of the e-levy rate.
Speaking on Pan African Tv on Friday, December 3, he said the position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as far as the budget, specifically the e-levy is concerned is that, it has been fully rejected and thrown out.
According to him, it is unjust to tax capital instead of profit.
He said due to the unjust nature of the tax, the NDC caucus has rejected the levy.
"We as a party have rejected the pre-tax," he said.
His comments come on the back of the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu's proposal that the e-levy be reduced to one percent.
According to Alhaji A.B Fuseini, the NDC caucus has not endorsed the proposal of the Minority Leader.
He said the Minority Leader was only expressing an opinion and not a unanimous decision made by the caucus.
