According to rumours, Barcelona is considering selling Chelsea and Manchester United target Ronald Araujo next summer. They have, however, fixed the price for the Uruguayan centre-back at €60 million.
Barcelona manager Xavi wants to keep the 22-year-old defender at Camp Nou, according to El Nacional. However, considering the club's current financial condition, president Joan Laporta is ready to selling him.
Several Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in the youngster. Manchester United and Chelsea, on the other hand, are among the leading contenders.
Araujo moved to Barcelona B from Boston River in 2018. In 2019, he made his La Liga debut, however in 2020, he was promoted to the first team. In total, he has 53 appearances for Barcelona's first squad in all competitions. Many Blaugrana fans feel that Araujo will eventually succeed Gerard Pique, who is currently 34 years old. Laporta, on the other hand, has fixed a price for the kid to be sold. Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Araujo currently has a €200 million release clause. That, however, will not be a problem for Laporta as long as the €60 million price tag is paid.
Manchester United and Chelsea are trying to strengthen their defences for the coming season; Araujo is the primary priority for Barcelona.
This season, the defences of Manchester United and Chelsea have been polar opposites. Chelsea has the greatest backline in the Premier League, with only six goals conceded, whereas United has one of the worst, with 22 goals conceded thus far. From a defensive standpoint, the Blues appear to be in good shape. However, they will almost certainly lose crucial players in that position next season.
Thiago Silva is already 37 years old, and Antonio Rudiger appears to be on his way out of the club. Both have played a key role in Chelsea's excellent defence.
Raphael Varane joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer. The defence has looked better when he has played, but he has missed the majority of the season due to injury.
For the Red Devils, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have struggled to put in even one solid effort. As a result, United is actively seeking reinforcements.
Ronald Araujo of Barcelona will undoubtedly strengthen either of their defences. If the Catalan giants sell him next summer, it will be interesting to see where he finishes up.
