In emotional scenes, prime minister Justin Trudeau and Liberal MPs crossed the aisle to shake hands and even hug thuer Conservative counterparts after proposing the measure. Once passed through the senate, the legislation would make it illegal to have a child undergo the practices or have anyone unwillingly undergo it.
