Deputy Majority Leader for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus has cultivated the habit of attacking them with unpalatable words and even threaten to beat them during disagreements.
This, he said, makes him panic whenever he finds himself in the legislative house for business.
According to him, the rudeness of some Members of Parliament makes him fear for his life.
Speaking on the Newsfile on Saturday, December 4, the Member of Parliament for Effutu disclosed that the NDC constantly subject them to verbal abuses and even threaten to beat them when a misunderstanding arises.
While lamenting, he said the conduct of the NDC caucus does not project the good image of the legislature.
“I would urge the public to call individuals out strongly. I am really tired of the verbal abuse; they have been abusing us all the time…insults from the NDC side…That day (Tuesday), the NDC MPs rained insults upon insults on Joe Osei-Owusu, and we were quiet and watching them," he said.
The way the NDC treats them in the chamber, he said, keeps him in panic and makes him feel his life is at risk.
“Sometimes I sit in the Chamber, and I fear for my life because the smallest thing we are debating then you [NDC MPs] threaten someone that I will beat you, I will beat you. Really, you should call them out,” he cried out.
