South Africa's President, Cyril Ramaphosa, jubilates over the President of the Republic of Ghana, Akufo-Addo's recognition by Forbes as 2021 African of the Year.
The South African President who is in the country for a three-day visit, told Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Saturday, December 4, that he deserves the honour because it is due to his "strategic vision" for Ghana and Africa that has earned him Forbes' recognition.
“Allow me to be personal, and congratulate you for being chosen as ‘African of the Year’ by Forbes Magazine. The recognition by this magazine is about your vision not only for Ghana, but also for the people of our continent as well," he said.
Another public figure who congratulated the President for his honour is the President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi A. Adesina.
The AfDB President in a congratulatory piece to the office of the president, said, “this is an excellent and very well-deserved honour and recognition."
Background
The Ghanaian president was on Friday, November 3, honored by Forbes Magazine.
The Magazine in its recent publication named him the 2021 African of the year.
According to the publication, the President has put Ghana in the international market as an independent country that solely depends on its own treasures.

Appreciating the honor, the President expressed tremendous gratitude and told CNBC Africa that he is extremely grateful.
He thanked Forbes for acknowledging his marvelous works and for honoring him.
“Thanks very much for recognizing the work that we are doing here in Ghana. For the African version of the magazine to pick me, I’m very grateful for me,” he said.
