UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM THAT ACCEPT WASSCE (WAEC) RESULTS

featured img

Many African secondary school students and graduates concern if their school leaving certificate tests would be sufficient to gain admission to a UK institution. This is especially true for students in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Gambia who have their WAEC scores as proof that they are ready to move on to the next level of school.

The good news is that the results of the West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are accepted by universities on other continents. It is one of the documents required for international students to be admitted to an undergraduate or foundation year program in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia.

In this article, I'll give you a list of institutions and colleges in the United Kingdom that accept WAEC results so you can make the best decision possible. You'll also get access to additional prerequisites as well as a direct link to the universities.

The following is a list of UK universities and colleges that accept WASSCE results:

The University of Sheffield is number one, and the University of Bradford is number two.

3 University of Southampton

The University of Edinburgh is ranked fourth, and Oxford University is ranked fifth.

Glasgow University is ranked sixth, and Manchester University is ranked seventh.

8 East Anglia University

The University of Plymouth is number nine.

The University of Greenwich is ranked tenth in the United Kingdom.

Sheffield University is a public university in Sheffield, England.

According to QS World University Rankings, the University of Sheffield is one of the best 13 public research universities in the UK and one of the top 75 in the world (2019). Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England is the location. Sheffield University is divided into five academic faculties, each with its own set of departments. In 2017, it had roughly 20,000 undergraduates.

If you want to apply to this university, you're in luck because WAEC results are accepted. To avoid taking an English prerequisite test like IELTS, you'll need a C6 or higher in English. Some departments, however, would demand you to produce the IELTS, so make sure you have it before applying.

In addition, you must apply early to secure a spot at the university, as demand for undergraduate degrees is typically strong.

Students from other nations account for 15% of Bradford University's student body (2019). Fortunately, you can apply for admittance into their foundation year and undergraduate degree programs using your WAEC results.

To be considered for admission to its foundation program, applicants must have at least a c6 in five topics (excluding native languages and vocational subjects).

Students should be aware that completing grade criteria does not guarantee admission, but it does put them in the running.
