Madam Dorcas Affo Toffey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency, has been issued a bench warrant by the Sekondi High Court.
The High Court's commercial section issued an arrest order for the lawmaker for disobeying the court over dual citizenship.
The warrant was issued because Dorcas Affo-Toffey failed to show evidence of her Ivorian citizenship renunciation, according to the presiding judge, Her Ladyship Sedina Agbemeve.
The court had previously asked the NDC MP to show documents to back up her assertions that she abandoned her Ivory Coast citizenship before running for office in Ghana.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey, on the other hand, appealed the Sekondi High Court's decision, which required her to present documentation of her renounced dual citizenship in court.
Lawyers for the lawmaker are asking the court to overturn the decisions of Justice Dr. Richmond of the Sekondi High Court.
