Rangnick names his captain for the Young Boys Champions League match.
Ralf Rangnick has revealed which Manchester United players will wear the captain's armband against Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The Reds have already won Group F and, as a result, will be one of the eight seeds in next Monday's round-of-16 draw.
Rangnick has been given the relatively uncommon luxury of being able to rotate his squad in his first European match as manager, despite the fact that the Swiss champions will still need a result to finish third in the pool and qualify for the Europa League after Christmas.
During a press conference on Tuesday to preview the game, the German confirmed Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek would start.
This would also imply that Bruno Fernandes may not start the game, as the Portuguese playmaker has usually taken over as captain when Maguire has been absent this season.
The exception to this rule came in September, when the experienced Matic led the side out against West Ham United in the third round of the Carabao Cup under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Nemanja, who was present at Rangnick's press conference, expressed his gratitude to United Review at the time.
"That was not even a dream because when you start from a small village in Serbia, when you play for a team that only has one ball for a year and you only play with one ball!" the 33-year-old said.
“It is kind of a dream. I am very proud because of that and, for sure, I take all the armbands to my home and that one will be framed.”
"I had hoped to play in the Serbian league, perhaps for Red Star Belgrade, but I am now at Manchester United."
