The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah said Ghanaians who don't welcome the e-levy and are not ready to pay are at liberty not to use the Mobile Money services.

In an interview with Tv 3's parliamentary correspondent, Komla Klutse, he said using the MoMo service is voluntary and not mandatory for Ghanaians.

According to him, employing propagandistic tactics against the e-levy is disgusting.

He said opposing the e-levy policy to score political points is "nauseating."

Carlos said people generally dislike paying tax and that is a known fact.

But MoMo tax, he said, is not compulsory because ¡it is only imposed on those who use the service.

“It is targeted at those who want to use the service,  even if I stand here and tell people that if you like don’t pay or if you like don’t use MoMo, I tell you, using MoMo will be far cheaper. If you think using the MoMo service is difficult or expensive, you try taking your money out there and even see,” he said.
