A frustrating night in Russia for Chelsea football club as their hopes of topping their UCL group was given a huge blow.
The blues were almost finishing on top of their group until a 94th minute equaliser from Ozdoev .
A disappointing result but the blame could be shifted on the numerous injuries facing the team. The defense look so much unorganised last night with so much spaces for the opposition attackers.
It should be noted that Chelsea has conceded more than a goal in a game for the fourth time under Thomas Tuchel and Ngolo Kante missed all these games, this proves how important he is in the midfield defensively for the team.
The poor defensive performance also points out how important leadership is needed at the back, exactly what Thiago Silva and Rudiger have been providing when playing.
Although being deceived by his height in saving the last minute equaliser, Kepa came in good in the game making two important 1v1 save in the first half of the game.
Kepa managed himself well under the pressure from the Zenit attackers.
The Timo Werner - Lukaku pairing paid off once again. The German had one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt, scoring two goals and setting up Lukaku for his first goal since September. Timo Werner makes his tracking very difficult for the opposition defenders and that is exactly what we witnessed last night.
Romelu Lukaku is back from his injury and has put on his scoring boots, first goal in his first start.
Reece James' role as a centre midfielder in yesterday's game was a tough task (considering he has played as a RB all games under TT) but he matched up to the task.
Saul Niguez also had a good performance as a LWB. His positioning and timing wasn't bad.
The boss Thomas Tuchel was frustrated with the teams reaction while they were leading. He believes they always relax when they are leading and it is not something he wants to see his team doing.
