According to reports, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has agreed to leave the club and join Chelsea to replace Antonio Rudiger.
El Nacional reports that the centre-back met with Blues owner Roman Abramovich, who "promised him an irrefutable contract," and manager Thomas Tuchel, who "secured him a role as the undisputed starter."
It comes as the Blues' contract with German defender Antonio Rudiger expires at the end of the season, with reports claiming the club is now'resigned' to losing him.
Werner warning sent
Glen Johnson, a former Blues defender, has warned Timo Werner not to join Manchester United.
The German striker has been linked with a reunion at Old Trafford with former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick, but Johnson has told Betting Odds that the move is not a good idea.
"I don't think that's a good move for either party to be honest," he told BettingOdds.com. "I don't believe it's a good move for Manchester United, and I don't believe it's a good move for Timo Werner." United appears to want to sign any available player in that position, which is insane."
