Lawyer Kissi Agyebeng, 2nd Special Prosecutor of the fourth republic has disclosed that he will be going after officials of the election management body who engages in electoral fraud.

Addressing a forum to celebrate the anti-corruption day and week in Accra, the criminal lawyer said, electoral fraud is a misdemeanor that falls under the mandate of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

Mr. Agyebeng revealed that his office has received several petitions including allegations of electoral fraud in the last general elections at the constituency/district, regional and national levels which is currently under investigation with prosecutions to follow if fraud is established.

"Any presiding officer, any returning officer who is minded to alter the results or to wilfully misstate the results we will come and pick them for prosecution".

The office of the Special Prosecutor was established in 2018 by an act of Parliament to curb and fight graft. Ghana looses over ¢3 billion to corruption annually.

He added that his office is still putting things in order to tackle corruption head-on and will undertake an anti-corruption risk assessment and review from January 2021 of all major public contracts, legislations and draft legislations.
