Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has sent Pele, 81, a note of support following the Brazilian legend's announcement that he is receiving chemotherapy.

PELE, the Brazilian soccer star, quipped that his recent hospitalization was due to him "getting ready for the holiday season." CRISTIANO RONALDO has sent Pele a well-wish.

Following the removal of a colon tumor, the three-time World Cup winner returned to the Alberto Enstein Hospital in Sao Paulo earlier this week for more treatment.

The 81-year-old said in September that he will need to continue getting chemotherapy sessions after his operation.

In his first Instagram post after the operation, he joked, "I'm looking forward to playing again."

With his first personal health update this week, Pele reverted to his characteristic humour, insisting: "Don't worry, I'm just getting ready for the holiday season," and receiving hundreds of letters of support from admirers around the world, including Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Friends, you know that I've been receiving brief chemotherapy treatments as part of my treatment since September 30th, when I left the hospital," he wrote beside a selfie of him in his hospital bed, a grin on his face and his left fist clinched.

"Today at Albert Einstein, I'm doing the final session of 2021."

I'd want to express my congratulations on your achievement.

"After all, don't you believe that every minor triumph should be celebrated?"

"I'm going to take a new battery of examinations with this opportunity, so I'll be here for a few days."

I'm just getting ready for the holidays!" "Don't worry, I'm just getting ready for the holidays!"

Cristiano responded by writing on Brazilian's Instagram: 'Forca amigo,' which roughly translates to 'Stay strong, my friend.' After his September operation, Pele, whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, performed the hymn of his old team Santos as he left hospital intensive care.

He exhibited his fighting fitness during a physiotherapy session by doing a one-two with his clenched fists while riding on an exercise bike from bed.

His colon tumor was identified when he went in for normal examinations at the end of August.

He had surgery on September 4th.

Pele was seen using a walking frame in a recent Netflix documentary about his career, which aroused health worries.

The former player, who is the first man to win three World Cups, has experienced mobility problems since a failed hip replacement surgery in 2012.

In the previous few years, he's undergone kidney and prostate surgery.

I'm going to use this opportunity to take a fresh set of examinations, so...

I'm going to use this opportunity to take a new set of tests, so I'll be staying here for a few days. Don't worry, I'm just preparing for the holidays!
