A police constable, Chris Quarshie, was killed by an unregistered Toyota Tundra with DV number 3518c-21 while on duty at Akwadum on the Suhum-Koforidua stretch.
The police officer who sustained severe injury in the accident which occurred on Thursday's midnight was rushed to the 37 military hospital after he was first sent to the Koforidua's St. Joseph Hospital.
However, on Friday, he was declared dead.
The suspect driver, John Adu Agyei, was allegedly speeding to Suhum.
He broke into a barricade and crashed down the police officer who was on duty at the Akwadum Police Check Point.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, the driver has been detained by the police.
