Cameroon's football federation has elected Samuel Eto'o as its president on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
The incumbent President, Seidou Mbombo Njoya, was defeated by the Barcelona legendary striker.
On the morning of the election, five other contestants pulled out of the competition.
Samuel Eto'o described his election as "one of the happiest moments in his life."
The 40-year-old veteran striker will steer the affairs of the Cameroon Football Federation for the next four years.
The veteran footballer was once a striker for Barcelona FC, Inter Milan and Chelsea FC.
After scoring 56 goals in 118 games for his country, Samuel is considered one of the country's best ever players.
Samuel had 43 votes in the election while his opponent, Seidou Mbombo, had 31 votes.
Samuel Etoo promised to build 10 sports stadiums for the country under his presidency and also promised to make positive amendments in the country's football.
In a post on Instagram, he said, ''every single vote represents the energy and ambition of our football family to take our beloved sport to a level we've never seen before. Let's get to work.''
