The Ashanti Regional 1st Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire has promised to remove all the huge billboards sprouted across the length and breadth of the region ahead of the 2021 Annual National Delegates Conference of the party this weekend.
Reacting to the growing factions within the party ahead of the internal race which may begin next year, the NPP chairman vowed to remove every giant billboard that has the logo of the party on it following a directive from the National Executive Committee.
Mr. Nsenkyire named the Agric Minister, Hon. Afriyie Akoto as one senior party member who has defied the national directive and has mounted his billboards at certain vantage points in the region.
"Akoto has placed on at Suame roundabout if they don't go and remove it, I will do so after consulting with the General Secretary and Chairman. Any billboard with the NPP logo on it, I will remove it.
In a press release signed by the National Communications Director of the party, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, the party has banned it's members from campaigning for individual aspirants seeking parliamentary, presidential and executive positions at all levels at the upcoming National Delegates Conference.
The release stated that though they cherish the competition within the party, the conference is a time of renewal aimed at enhancing party unity.
It however banned it's aspirants to desist from mounting billboards, signboards, banners, paraphernalia of candidates and any outdoor signage with images, names of individual members with or without the consent of the individual.
The letter cited by myblogpay.com promised to disqualify candidates who goes against the directive and it applies within the Greater Kumasi enclave (venue for the conference) and advised that those who have already mounted billboards should be razed down.
