Manchester United have apparently identified a ready-made replacement for Paul Pogba, who is poised to leave the club as a free agent next summer.
United might lose the World Cup winner to a top European opponent, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus all interested in signing him.
But, according to reports, new manager Ralf Rangnick and the Old Trafford board have already identified another Frenchman who can step in and replace the Pogba gap.
According to the Athletic, the Red Devils will turn to Boubacar Kamara, a 22-year-old superstar. In addition, the youngster's contract is about to expire, and if he does not agree to new terms with Marseille before the conclusion of the season, he could be available for free.
In the most recent transfer window, Kamara turned down deadline-day offers from Wolves and Newcastle United, while channels of communication with Newcastle have remained open following the club's Saudi Arabian acquisition.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also said to be interested, owing to the deal's financial benefits.
Kamara has made over 100 appearances since making his senior debut in 2016, and has represented France at all levels from Under-17 to Under-21. Marseille may be obliged to sell Kamara in January to recoup some transfer fees due to his apparent unwillingness to sign a new contract in France.
Rangnick, who will return to the club as a consultant after serving as interim manager, is said to be prioritising central midfield on the European market.
Both Scott McTominay and Fred are used as holding midfielders at the moment, with Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and Donny van der Beek alternating slightly ahead.
Juan Mata, a veteran playmaker, has also remained a bench possibility.
