Chelsea are allegedly interested in signing Torino defender Gleison Bremer on a free transfer.
Given the fact that Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, and Cesar Azpilicueta are all out of contract this summer, Thomas Tuchel is thought to be looking into his defensive options.
Chelsea will, however, have to compete with Liverpool, who were connected with the defender last season when they were in the throes of a defensive crisis.
Chelsea are yet to agree new contracts with Rudiger, Christensen, Silva, and Azpilicueta, according to The Sun.
As a result, the club is putting together a list of potential replacements in case the existing group leaves at the same time.
Bremer is said to be at the top of the list, as Tuchel and his coaching staff see him as a key asset. The Blues sent scouts out to watch the defender play against Empoli last week and were pleased by his 'power' on the pitch, according to reports.
Chelsea, on the other hand, will have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Liverpool for Bremer's signature.
Last season, the 24-year-old was prominently linked with Jurgen Klopp's job as the champions faced a defensive crisis.
The Reds manager, on the other hand, went for Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, while Bremer remained in Turin.
Despite this, Liverpool are said to be interested in the Torino defender and could make a move in the summer.
Bremer's contract with Torino is slated to expire in 2023. The Italian club only spent £5.2 million for the Brazilian's talents and will be hoping to benefit from his sale. After joining Torino on a five-year agreement from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro in 2018, Bremer has flourished in Italy.
Last season, he made 33 Serie A games for Torino, who finished 17th, just four points above the relegation zone.
This season, Bremer has maintained his excellent form, attracting curiosity from all over Europe.
