Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu said Ghanaians drive luxurious vehicles and build luxurious houses under the government of President Nana Akufo Addo and this is an indication that the economy is in a good shape.
In an interview with a Tamale-based media house, Sagani TV, he criticized reports that there is financial hardship in Ghana.
According to him, the kind of cars Ghanaians drive around town and the kind of structures they put up as houses reveal that businesses are flourishing and the country is moving in the right direction.
He said what he has identified is that Ghanaians have come to realize the importance of managing their resources judiciously.
He said Ghanaians no longer waste their scarce resources on irrelevant things like gambling and commercial sex.
He added that because Ghanaians are now managing their scarce resources wisely, it makes people want to have more resources for themselves and in the process creating a competition.
Because Ghanaians wear nice dresses, drive expensive cars and build expensive houses, he said, rubbishes the misconception that Ghanaians live in difficulty.
"This shows that we are not in hard times. We are only challenged by wanting to do more than we have. So resources are scarce because people have a very good use for their resources and people wish that they have more than what they have and that is why people think that there is hardship," he said.
