AT A CHECKPOINT IN GHANA, A POLICE CONSTABLE, 29, WAS KILLED BY AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE.

According to the Eastern Regional Police Command, a Police Constable, Christ Quarshie, 29, died after being struck by an unregistered car at the Akwadum Police roadblock in the New Juaben North Municipality. 

While on duty at the checkpoint, Constable Quarshie was killed when he was struck by an unlicensed Toyota Tundra driven by John Agyei, 53. 

According to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), the culprit, who was speeding, knocked down the police barricade and Constable Quarshie when he arrived at the Akwadum Police Check Point. 

The man was brought to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua for medical treatment, but was referred to the 37 Military Hospital, DSP Tetteh informed the Ghana News Agency in an interview.


Constable Quarshie died in the early hours of Friday at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, according to him. 

He stated that plans were being made for his remains to be sent to the Police Hospital mortuary. The culprit was apprehended and is now in police custody. 

According to DSP Tetteh, "This is the region's first recorded murder of a police officer this month. The death of the young youngster has had a significant negative impact on my day." -GNA
