The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Akuffo Dampare has gone to commiserate with the families and mates of two police personnel who lost their lives in the process of stopping a robbery attack on a shop in Zuarugu in the Upper East region.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday, December 15, claimed the lives of Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Adam Suley.
When the robbers sighted the police officers on their patrol motorbike, they opened fire on them and that led to the explosion of the motorbike.
The two constables died as a result.
The criminals reportedly made away with the weapons of the dead police officers.
Dampare in the company of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) visited the colleague and families of the officers earlier Thursday to mourn with them.
The colleagues of the deceased police officers burst into tears upon the IGP's visit.
The IGP assured the residents of security from the police.
Reports indicate that the robbers are Fulanis.
The police have launched an operation to arrest and bring the criminals to book.
