Despite Covid's injury, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side achieved an impressive feat by defeating Newcastle United in their Premier League match on Thursday night.

Liverpool had a big night, coming back from a goal down to beat Newcastle United 3-1 and set a new record in the process.

After Diogo Jota had equalized former Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey's early goal, Mohamed Salah scored his 22nd goal of the season.

With a 25-yard effort, Trent Alexander-Arnold ensured the three points, keeping the Reds just a point off the top of the Premier League table.

However, the victory came just hours after the club was thrown into the league's Covid crisis.

Curtis Jones, Virgil van Dijk, and Fabinho have all tested positive for Covid-19, with the latter two finding out just hours before the match against Newcastle.

As the new Omicron variant ravages English football, several Premier League fixtures have had to be canceled.

The three Liverpool players are now being isolated as the club takes precautions to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Involved in a TV squabble

Didi Hamann, a Liverpool legend, was involved in a heated television brawl with Marco Rose, the manager of Borussia Dortmund.

Even though Dortmund beat Bundesliga rivals Furth 3-0 over the weekend, TV pundit Hamann was critical of the team's performance.

"You have 12:8 shots on goal against a relegation candidate [Dortmund 12-8 Furth], that's not enough for me," the former midfielder said, according to German publication Bild.

The Reds win for the first time in franchise history.

Liverpool won their 2,000th English Premier League game against Newcastle at Anfield on Thursday night.

It means the Reds are the first team in English Premier League history to reach 2,000 victories, but Mo Salah has also set a new record.

Salah's goal means he has now scored or assisted in 15 Premier League games in a row, matching Jamie Vardy's record.

Mirror Football has all of the details on those records, as well as all of the other game highlights.

Covid crisis hits Reds

The Covid crisis in the Premier League has now reached Liverpool, which has three players out with the virus.

But Dortmund boss Rose has angrily hit back at the former Liverpool man.
