An incident took place at zuarungu in the upper east region on Wednesday, Dec 15which has led to the shooting and killing of 2 police men in their attempt to help others.
According to the police, a call came to their office at zuarungu District command reporting that a serious robbery was taking place at the zuarungu market. As the police were organizing themselves to go and make peace, another call came stating that 2 policemen had been shot dead.
Witnesses said that the 2 policemen came to the market around 7 to buy food but were shot when they tried to respond to a robbery attack. They said the officers died on the spot and got partly burnt. The police suspect that the burning came in due to the fact that there was a leakage in the fuel tank of the motorbike the 2 policemen were using.
Before the police could reach the scene, the armed robbers had run away.
A team of police men left by the Bolgatanga Divisional Commander have started investigation
