Since joining Barcelona, Demir has made nine appearances in all competitions.

Because his loan has been terminated, Wonderkid will return to Rapid Vienna next month.

According to Sport, Barcelona is considering terminating wonderkid Yusuf Demir's contract and cutting short his season-long loan move.

The 18-year-old was earlier thought to be set for a layoff as the club sought to avoid paying an £8.5 million release clause in his contract, which would entail signing him on a permanent deal if he made one more appearance.

Since joining from parent club Rapid Vienna, the Austrian international has appeared nine times in all competitions, and one more appearance would trigger the fee. Barcelona had the chance to sign the player on a permanent basis in June, but decided against it.

Yusuf Demir's loan at Barcelona will be cut short, and the teenager will return to Rapid Vienna.

DEMIR made his Champions League debut for the club, impressing in a 2-2 draw with Benfica.

A third of his appearances have lasted less than 15 minutes, with his most recent coming in the 3-0 thumping by Bayern Munich earlier this month in the group stages.

Prior to that, the highly-rated striker had only played nine minutes in a 3-0 win over Levante in September and only two minutes in a 1-0 triumph over Espanyol last month.

Demir rose to prominence under former head coach Ronald Koeman, who offered him the opportunity to flourish during the preseason. The teenager was promoted from Barca B to the top team after impressing.

The Austrian has not been a regular under Xavi, but he made an impression in the 0-0 draw with Benfica at the Nou Camp in Europe's top league, hitting the crossbar twice.

Since joining the Catalan giants last summer, Demir has only made nine appearances.

5Several Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing the Austrian ahead of the January transfer window.

Several Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing him, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Eintracht Frankfurt all keeping tabs on him.

Demir is expected to join whichever club is willing to pay the €10 million (£8.5 million) release clause in his contract come January, with Rapid willing to let him depart in order to pursue first-team action.

Barcelona will have a busy January in terms of outgoings; in addition to Demir, Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti are both surplus to requirements and are poised to leave.
